太陽能光伏并網發電系統只能應用在有市政電網的地區,由太陽能電池方陣所產生的電能必須立即送入到市政電網,否則整個發電系統將無法發電。此系統主要由太陽能電池方陣、并網發電用功率調節器、市政電網、用電負荷設備及它們之間的連接電纜等組成。

有市電的情況下,在晴朗的白天,由太陽能電池方陣產生的電能經過并網發電用功率調節器控制和電能變換后,首先輸出給太陽能系統與市電電網并網點附近的用電負荷設備,如果當時太陽能電池方陣的最大發電功率大于用電負荷設備消耗功率,則將剩余電量送到上一級配電網,然后通過電網給電網上的其它用電負荷設備供電。當并網點附近的用電負荷設備消耗的功率大于當時的太陽能電池方陣最大發電功率,則用電負荷設備所消耗的功率由太陽能光伏發電和市電同時提供,但是優先使用太陽能光伏所產生的電能。

When the power consumed by the electric load equipment near the grid connection point is greater than the maximum power generated by the solar cell array at the time, the power consumed by the electric load equipment is provided by both the solar photovoltaic power generation and the commercial power simultaneously, but the priority is to use the energy generated by solar photovoltaic.
在無市電時,晴朗的白天太陽光伏發電產生的電能不能通過功率調節器提供給用電負荷設備。因為此時用電負荷設備和無電的市電電網是連接在一起的,此時電網上的負荷功率將是一個無限大的用電負荷設備,而太陽能電池方陣的發電量是有限的,同時為檢修電網的安全角度考慮,因此,并網用功率調節器將關閉與市電電網連接的通道,并停止發電(即專業術語為:孤島效應)。
